Kathleen has "high-functioning" autism / Asperger syndrome (HFA/AS) diagnosis, with Tourette syndrome in partial "remission" and some other related stuff going on. I like to help people to understand autism spectrum disorders, and I am particularly interested in advocating for better understanding of the needs of HFA/AS adults. I have, in recent years, become disabled by Lyme disease and/or chronic fatigue syndrome. My husband abandoned me in August 2005, after 20 years of marriage. Interests include medical science, Internet research, cooking (when able), vegetable gardening, sometimes watching birds, Dutch language (I only know a little), homeschooling, listening to Christian music (Michael W. Smith, Rich Mullins, Steven Curtis Chapman, Bryan Duncan's older songs, Avalon, others), classical music (particularly baroque -- Pachelbel, Handel, Vivaldi, Bach), oldies, and big band music. Current favorite television programs: "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: Miami," "Without a Trace," "House," "Crossing Jordan," "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," some others.

My children are ages 15 years and 12 years. They are homeschooled, which has worked out quite well for us. :-)

Poekie is our cat. She "adopted" us on 10 July 2001. :-)
We also have two hamsters: Chadder and Benjamin.
